COI OFFERS NEW INTERNATIONAL MINISTRY SITE THIS YEAR

images

As of September 2009, Christian Outreach International will be offering mission outreaches to an international site that is new for us, Honduras!

Tegucigalpa, Honduras (the capital of Honduras) and the surrounding area are exciting places to do ministry. COI has partnered with an American missionary family who has been living and working in the country, and in Central America for over 20 years. They are known for their growing local church, Bible School, and humanitarian outreach, Children’s Home, and Elementary School.

A highlight of COI’s work there will include working at local children’s hospitals with kids and their families that have cancer and aids.  We will also be able to prayer walk the wing of the hospital for the children with hydrocephalus, a major medical need for children in Honduras.and the platform to make a difference. To date,SL has donated 100's of shunts, raised awareness, and is planning construction of new surgery center. 42 successful surgeries too!

Outreach, like humanitarian work is a very important part of the work of touching the people of this nation. We can do medical clinics, aid, many types of evangelism, and prison ministry.

Most groups that have ministered in the prison say it was a highlight of their trip. No need to be afraid of reaching out in the prison to the 18th street gang with God’s love and grace!

COI groups will also be able to be up-close and personal in the lives of orphaned, abandoned, and abused children as our dormitory is located on the upper level of a vibrant home for children. All of the “Hope” children are now part of a large family with brothers and sisters and two loving parents who recognize the purpose of God in each of them.  Ministry with these children and family is a blast!!

The current political situation in Honduras is calm after some unrest in the spring.  There are teams visiting regularly with no problems, and any recent demonstrations have been peaceful. Ministry in the rural area is very safe, and new elections are in November, with the new administration in place in January. We are sure that ministry in Honduras will be safe and effective.
